Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters has paid tribute to Everton chairman Bill Kenwright CBE, who has passed away at the age of 78.
Kenwright, a lifelong Everton supporter, was the club’s chairman for 19 seasons, the longest tenure for more than a century.
He helped the club secure 12 top-eight finishes, including a fourth-place finish in 2004/05 and a run to the final of the FA Cup in 2009.
“Bill was popular and great fun. He will be remembered for his passion and total dedication to Everton, his natural warmth with everyone he met and his great sense of humour," Masters said.
"Our thoughts are with his family, friends and everyone at the club. Bill will be greatly missed.”
