Oscar Bobb has won January 2024's Budweiser Goal of the Month award for his brilliant match-winning strike in Manchester City's 3-2 comeback victory at Newcastle United.

After coming off the bench on 82 minutes with the match tied 1-1, Bobb won the game in the first minute of stoppage time with an exquisite piece of skill.

The 20-year-old Norwegian superbly controlled fellow substitute Kevin De Bruyne's cross and showed incredible feet to knock the ball past goalkeeper Martin Dubravka and score his first Premier League goal.

Man City manager Pep Guardiola praised the finish by Bobb, who was keen to pass on credit for the goal to De Bruyne.

"Oscar's was a fantastic goal for the control," Guardiola said. "When Kevin has the ball and we have runners, Kevin is unique in the world but the finish by Oscar, I am so, so happy for him."

Bobb added: “I said thank you to him [De Bruyne] after. He’s the only one in the world who can do that [make that cross]."

It is the first time a Man City player has won the award since Rodri claimed it with a thunderous effort against Everton in November 2021.

Bobb's goal topped a shortlist of eight of the best in January after votes from the public were combined with those of a panel of experts.
