Kevin De Bruyne has hit the ground running on his return from injury much to the delight of Manchester City supporters, as well as all fans of the Premier League who enjoy the brilliance of the competition's top stars.
The Belgian’s season had got off to the worst possible start in August when he limped off with a hamstring injury in the first half of City’s Premier League opener at Burnley.
The 32-year-old was forced to undergo surgery and extensive rehabilitation to get back on the pitch but since then, he's looked back to his best.
Now fans can go behind the scenes to see what De Bruyne had to go through to get on the road back to full fitness.
In a new exclusive City Studios feature film, “Kevin De Bruyne: Return of the King”, they can follow how his recovery was managed as he worked closely with City’s medical staff, including physiotherapist and rehabilitation expert Tom O’Malley.
The full 21-minute version of the documentary is available on Man City’s official channels. Just download the official Man City app.
Fans can see how the loudest cheer of City's home win over Sheffield United on 30 December came when De Bruyne warmed up as a substitute for the first time.
The midfielder then made his return in the FA Cup victory over Huddersfield Town, where it took only 17 minutes after coming off the bench for De Bruyne to get back to his creative ways and provide an assist.
In total De Bruyne has scored twice and provided seven assists in only eight appearances in all competitions since he returned last month after almost five months out.
He was the star of City’s comeback success at Newcastle United, again coming off the bench to score the equaliser before brilliantly setting up Oscar Bobb’s dramatic late winner.
Next up, De Bruyne is set to face a Brentford team who will be seeking to derail City's hopes of an unprecedented fourth successive Premier League title on Tuesday night.
