The Scout assesses the best way to invest in the two clubs who have a Double Gameweek 28 (DGW28) in Fantasy Premier League.
Luton Town
Luton’s unique short-term schedule has made their players popular targets ahead of Saturday’s 11:00 GMT deadline.
The Hatters are the only side to have three matches over the next two Gameweeks, with a DGW28 against Crystal Palace and AFC Bournemouth followed by a home meeting with Nottingham Forest in Blank Gameweek 29 (BGW29).

As a result, Alfie Doughty (£4.7m) is the most-bought defender in the Gameweek and Carlton Morris (£5.1m) is the second most-bought forward, earning 136,000 and 176,000 new owners respectively.
Morris has been Luton’s standout player in Fantasy since returning to their starting line-up in Gameweek 22.
He has produced four goals and two assists in their subsequent six matches, with his total of 39 points just one fewer than Manchester City's Erling Haaland (£14.5m) in the same period.
A recent injury to Elijah Adebayo (£4.9m) has clearly been a big blow for the Hatters, with the forward claiming 28 points in only three appearances from Gameweek 22 onwards.
But his absence has allowed Tahith Chong (£4.7m) a chance to impress. The midfielder has produced assists against Manchester United and Liverpool in the last three Gameweeks, as well as scoring against Aston Villa.
Chong's three goal contributions have been equalled by Ross Barkley (£5.0m), although the latter approaches DGW28 in less inspiring form, having blanked in each of Luton’s last four matches.
Meanwhile, wing-back Doughty has shown his attacking potential by supplying two assists to collect 16 points.
Luton's top-scoring players, GW22-27
Player | Pts | G | A | Clean sheets | Bonus |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Morris | 39 | 4 | 2 | N/A | 6 |
Adebayo | 28 | 4 | 1 | N/A | 3 |
Ogbene | 28 | 2 | 1 | N/A | 5 |
Barkley | 26 | 1 | 2 | 1 | 3 |
Chong | 19 | 1 | 2 | 0 | 0 |
Doughty | 16 | 0 | 2 | 1 | 1 |
Who has the greatest goal threat?
By assessing the underlying statistics over Gameweeks 22-27, it’s clear to see that Morris is the focal point of the Hatters’ attack. His 15 shots, 13 shots in the box and five big chances are all team-leading totals.
Barkley and Ogbene have both managed 12 shots each, with the latter leading his team-mate by eight shots in the box to four. However, Ogbene is classified as a forward in Fantasy and has been playing as a wing-back recently, which lessens his appeal, while he was used as a substitute last weekend.
In terms of shot frequency, Chong’s average of 31 minutes per attempt is second only to the injured Adebayo here.
Doughty, meanwhile, has boasted one of the strongest goal threats among all defenders in Fantasy from Gameweek 22 onwards. His nine shots place second, while his seven shots in the box are joint-top.
Luton's top goal threats, GW22-27
Player | Shots | Shots in box | Big chances | Mins/shot |
---|---|---|---|---|
Morris | 15 | 13 | 5 | 34.1 |
Ogbene | 12 | 8 | 2 | 45.0 |
Barkley | 12 | 4 | 1 | 44.3 |
Adebayo | 10 | 10 | 4 | 24.6 |
Doughty | 9 | 7 | 0 | 54.9 |
Chong | 9 | 6 | 1 | 31.0 |
Who is the most creative?
Doughty’s all-round attacking contribution is further highlighted by the creativity statistics from Gameweek 22 onwards.
His 17 key passes place second only to the 19 of Barkley, thanks to his dominance of dead-ball duties. Doughty has taken 34 of Luton’s 42 corners in this period.
Doughty not only ranks top in his position in Fantasy from Gameweek 22 onwards, he is one of only two defenders – along with Liverpool's Andrew Robertson (£6.4m) – who has managed more than nine key passes.
Morris’s creativity also catches the eye. His nine key passes rank third among team-mates from Gameweek 22 onwards, while his three big chances created place joint-top with Barkley.

So, who are the best Luton players to own?
The underlying statistics indicate Morris is the most likely Luton player to reward managers, with his penalty duties another factor in his favour. Indeed, he is the most in-form player of the two DGW28 sides.
Doughty’s numbers also show why he is proving a popular pick, although he’s far more likely to earn attacking returns than clean sheets.
Barkley’s recent drought certainly lessens his appeal as a short-term solution, with Chong’s more advanced role and greater goal threat making him a better option for those willing to invest in the Hatters’ midfield.
