Phil Foden is in awe of what he and his Manchester City team-mates have achieved as they claimed a historic fourth consecutive Premier League title after beating West Ham United 3-1 on the final day of the season.
Foden, the Premier League Player of the Season, scored twice in Sunday's triumph and at 23 is the youngest player to claim six league titles.
“It’s so hard to put into words today,” he said. “We’ve put ourselves into the history books, no team has ever done it (won four in a row) and you can see what it means to the fans, what it means to us.
“We’ve worked so hard for this moment right here, and it’s such a special feeling to share this with the fans.
“In the Premier League it means more because no team has ever won four in a row before, we’re the first team to do it.
"I’m lost for words to be honest and I’m absolutely shattered - not just me, but all the lads as well have played important games over the years, and we’ve played this scenario a couple of times as well.
“That experience helps the nerves and I thought today we looked confident and we just played our football, and in the end it paid off."
Foden opened the scoring after just 78 seconds against West Ham, before making it 2-0 in the 18th minute.
“It was the perfect start," he said. "Sometimes I believe in scoring too early so I had to stay switched on and luckily I got the second, which set us up, and I think [the nickname] 'sniper' is going to stay for a bit longer now.
“I never get bored [of winning the Premier League]. I want this feeling every time and when you win something there’s no better feeling, and I just want to keep winning as much as I can.”
"The margins are so small"
Although City have won four titles in a row, Bernardo Silva says it has been far from easy and that the champions have been pushed all the way, first by Liverpool in previous seasons and now by Arsenal.
“The margins are so small. Liverpool in two seasons we beat them by one point and now Arsenal by two points,” Silva told Sky Sports.
“We've been lucky enough to have these small margins to be in front of them. The achievement is unbelievable. Four in a row, we are so, so proud and so, so happy.
“The way this team is built, they know if everyone works very hard we are a step closer to winning. As the senior guys right now, we have to make sure that the new guys feel the same way.
“In this team it is not acceptable to not work and give 100 per cent, and that's what we do every game.”
'We knew we'd do it after beating Spurs'
Erling Haaland says that City's 2-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday was the moment when he and his team-mates knew they were going to win the title, as he discussed the team's form after Christmas.
"It's like that every year," he said. "It's like we add on a little bit extra because that's when it really matters. I'm happy and I can't complain.
"After we beat Spurs we kind of knew we were going to do it. I was confident.
"Every game, the way every game is not like a final but it's not far away. You come away somewhere, or even at home you can't relax. Every game is so intense and tough."
Haaland has also retained the Castrol Golden Boot, claiming the award after scoring 27 Premier League goals this season.
“To win the Golden Boot again is very special for me,” Haaland told Man City's official website. “I’m so proud to make my contribution to help this incredible team and my amazing team-mates.
“I have to thank all my team-mates for helping me to this award, and the coaches and staff that work so hard. And a thank you to the fans who give me so much support and I always enjoy celebrating goals with you!”
