Nottingham Forest have announced the signing of 21-year-old midfielder Elliot Anderson from Newcastle United.

Anderson has signed a five-year deal at Nott'm Forest and becomes their third addition of the summer transfer window, after Marko Stamenic from Red Star Belgrade and Eric da Silva Moreira from St. Pauli.

Forest have also announced that goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos has completed a permanent transfer to Newcastle.

Who is Anderson?

Anderson grew up in Whitley Bay, close to Newcastle's St James' Park stadium, and joined the club at the age of eight. He graduated from their academy and went on to make 55 appearances, including 44 in the Premier League, although only 13 were starts.

An attacking midfielder, Anderson is yet to score in the Premier League but does have three assists.

He made his UEFA Champions League debut in 2023/24 and impressed last summer in the Premier League Summer Series tournament in the United States.

Anderson's only previous spell away from Newcastle came in 2020/21 at Bristol Rovers, for whom he produced eight goals and five assists in 21 appearances to help earn promotion to League One.

He is of Scottish descent and has played for Scotland at youth level.

2024/25 preparations

Nott'm Forest play their first pre-season match ahead of 2024/25 on 13 July against Chesterfield.

Their opening match of the new Premier League campaign is at home to AFC Bournemouth on Saturday 17 August.
