The Scout assesses the prospects of the latest batch of players to be added to 2024/25 Fantasy Premier League.
Filip Jorgensen (CHE) £4.5m GKP
Chelsea’s new goalkeeper Jorgensen will cost managers in Fantasy just £4.5m after arriving from Spanish side Villarreal earlier this week.
The price reflects the uncertainty still surrounding the Blues' No 1 position for the campaign ahead, with Robert Sanchez (£4.5m) having started all three of their summer friendlies under new head coach Enzo Maresca.
At present, it remains to be seen whether Jorgensen will establish himself as a regular or if he has been purchased as a back-up for the Spaniard between the posts.
Certainly, Chelsea’s schedule indicates they could prove a handy source of clean sheets from the outset. After their difficult opening fixture against Manchester City, all six of their matches over Gameweeks 2-7 score just two in the Fixture Difficulty Ratings (FDR).
Ben Brereton Diaz (SOU) £5.5m MID
Southampton’s new attacker Brereton Diaz has been priced at £5.5m and also has the early schedule to make a fast start to the season after his own move from Villarreal.
According to the FDR, four of Saints' five matches from Gameweek 2 onwards – against Nottingham Forest, Brentford, Ipswich Town and AFC Bournemouth – all score two.
Brereton Diaz was a big success while playing on loan for Sheffield United last campaign.
He produced six goals and an assist in his 14 outings in Fantasy, averaging 4.4 points per start – the same as Arsenal’s Declan Rice (£6.5m) and Tottenham Hotspur’s James Maddison (£7.5m), who are both more expensive than him this season.
Jorgensen and Brereton Diaz are among five players who have been added to FPL on Thursday.
