Another big week in the Premier League sees a final round of fixtures ahead of the season’s first international break, the closure of the summer transfer window, EFL Cup second-round matches and the league phase draws to determine opposition for the top-flight contingent playing European football.

Monday

The Bank Holiday weekend concludes with one Premier League 2 (PL2) fixture as Sunderland host Middlesbrough at 19:00 BST. Both sides are looking for a first league win.

Tuesday

As the EFL Cup reaches the second round, the 13 Premier League clubs not involved in European competition enter the tournament, with ties drawn into northern and southern sections along geographical boundaries.

Everton, who reached the quarter-finals last season, host League Two side Doncaster Rovers in one of 15 matches kicking off at 19:45 BST. Fulham, who were semi finalists in 2023/24, visit Birmingham City at 20:00 BST, while Crystal Palace host Norwich City at the same time.

Wednesday

There are two all-Premier League ties among the seven EFL Cup matches taking place on Wednesday. West Ham United welcome AFC Bournemouth to London Stadium for a 19:45 BST kick-off, with beaten 2022/23 EFL Cup finalists Newcastle United travelling to Nottingham Forest at 20:00 BST.

The main draw for the third round of the EFL Cup will take place following the conclusion of the match at the City Ground.

Elsewhere, Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca will speak to the media ahead of his side’s UEFA Conference League playoff second leg against Swiss side Servette.

Thursday

In the UEFA Conference League, Chelsea take a 2-0 advantage into their tie at Servette after goals from Christopher Nkunku and Noni Madueke secured victory in the first leg at Stamford Bridge last week. The match kicks off at 19:30 BST.

The UEFA Champions League has undergone major changes this season, now consisting of a single 36-team league phase before the knockout rounds later in the campaign. All teams will play eight league phase matches against eight different clubs, assigned by automated computer software that replaces the traditional ball-in-bowl draw.

Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Aston Villa will find out their UEFA Champions League opponents when the league phase draw takes place from approximately 17:00 BST.

Meanwhile, some Premier League managers will hold press conferences to preview their weekend fixtures.

Friday

The remaining Premier League managers will speak to the media, sharing team news and injury updates ahead of the weekend’s matches.

It could be a frantic evening inside club boardrooms as teams look to finalise their late incomings and outgoings before the summer transfer window shuts at 23:00 BST. Clubs are only permitted to complete deals after that deadline if they have submitted a deal sheet to the Premier League.

Back to European matters, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur will learn their UEFA Europa League fate when the league phase draw takes place at around 12:00 BST. The UEFA Conference League draw will follow at approximately 13:30 BST, with Chelsea hoping to be in the mix after their match the night before.

Meanwhile, the PL2 returns with eight fixtures, including Arsenal trying to maintain their 100 per cent record when they host Villa at 19:00 BST.

Saturday

The Fantasy Premier League deadline for Gameweek 3 is at 11:00 BST.

It’s a busy day of Premier League action with seven fixtures, starting with a big 12:30 BST encounter between Arsenal and Brighton & Hove Albion, two teams boasting 100 per cent records at the top of the table. Arsenal are yet to concede a goal in victories over Wolverhampton Wanderers and Villa, but welcome a Brighton side who claimed the notable scalp of Man Utd last weekend.

All three promoted clubs are in action among the five 15:00 BST matches, with Leicester City hosting Villa. All eyes will be at Goodison Park, where bottom club Everton take on AFC Bournemouth, with both clubs seeking their first win.

The last Premier League fixture before the international break sees Man Utd welcome Liverpool to Old Trafford. Arne Slot has overseen two league wins since taking charge, while United were stunned by Brighton’s last-gasp winner last weekend.

There are three matches in the PL2, including Man City hosting Everton at the Joie Stadium at 15:00 BST.
