Shakespeare was previously put in temporary charge at the King Power Stadium following the depature of Claudio Ranieri in February and guided the Foxes to a 12th-place finish.
He also became only the third manager in PL history to win his first five matches in the competition.
One of the 53-year-old's first assignments will be next month's Premier League Asia Trophy in Hong Kong, where his side will face West Bromwich Albion on 19 July before meeting Liverpool or Crystal Palace three days later.
