Erling Haaland has set a Premier League record for most goals scored in a team's first four matches of a Premier League season.
Haaland scored twice to help Manchester City earn a 2-1 turnaround win over Brentford on Saturday and extend his side's winning start to the campaign.

In doing so he took his goal tally for the season to an incredible nine goals in four matches. That is THREE TIMES the total of any other player, and two goals more than any other club (apart from his own Man City).
His nine goals break Wayne Rooney's record of eight goals in Manchester United's first four matches of 2011/12. Rooney went on to score 27 goals that season, a figure Haaland is already a third of the way to reaching.

He will break his own record and move clear of Rooney again with a goal in Matchweek 5 at home to Arsenal.

But one record escaped the Norwegian on Saturday.
One more goal against Brentford would have made him the first player in Premier League history to score a hat-trick in THREE consecutive matches, having struck trebles against Ipswich Town and West Ham United in Matchweeks 2 and 3 respectively.
He hit a post late on and was denied by a stunning save by Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken.
After four matches of his previous two seasons Haaland had six goals. He ended those campaigns with 36 and 27 goals respectively.
How many he scores in 2024/25 is anyone's guess.
