The Premier League’s participation in the latest phase of "Operation 404", led by authorities in Brazil, has seen further anti-piracy action carried out against sports piracy across South America.

Initially launched in 2019, Operation 404 targets illegal streaming services through a range of measures, including website blocking and criminal raids. The Premier League became the first sports body directly involved in Operation 404 last year.

Last week’s action was the seventh phase of the operation led by the Cyber Operations Laboratory of Brazil's Ministry of Justice and Public Security in collaboration with various partners, including the UK Intellectual Property Office and participating authorities from Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Peru, and the United States of America. It saw nearly 700 illegal streaming websites and 14 apps blocked, as well as 30 search and seizure and five arrest warrants executed.

Through its involvement in Operation 404 and various other initiatives across the globe, the Premier League remains committed to tackling piracy and works closely with broadcast partners and other bodies in doing so.
