Salah, whose contract expires at the end of the current season, told Sky Sports: "Honestly that's what was in my head [it possibly being his last home match v Man City].
"Probably until now this is the last City game I will play for Liverpool so I was just going to enjoy it. The atmosphere was incredible so I will enjoy every second here. Hopefully we just win the league and will see what will happen."
Salah added that he is still loving playing at Anfield for Liverpool: "It's very special. I don't take it for granted. I'm enjoying every minute here. It feels like home. It's always special feeling always scoring at Anfield and winning games."
The Egyptian last spoke about his contract situation a week ago, saying he has yet to receive an offer from Liverpool to extend his deal beyond the summer of 2025 and that his future is not in his hands.
He said he "is more out than in", leading to head coach Arne Slot to respond with "he is more in than out" when it comes to Liverpool's starting line-ups.
Salah was directly involved in both of Liverpool's goals in Sunday's 2-0 win over Man City. He has now scored and assisted in a Premier League match for the 36th time, the joint-most by a player in the competition’s history, equalling Wayne Rooney’s record.
He now has 11 Premier League goals for the season, only one behind Erling Haaland in the race for the Golden Boot, while his seven assists also rank second in the competition, three behind Bukayo Saka.
In terms of goals and assists combined, Salah's total of 18 is more than anyone else in the division, as the 32-year-old continues to show no signs of slowing down.
This season he has moved up to eighth in the all-time Premier League scorers' chart, overtaking Jermain Defoe and Robbie Fowler. With 168 goals, he is now only seven behind Thierry Henry and nine behind Frank Lampard.
What do the pundits think?
Michael Owen: "I'm sure there will be negotiations. There's a long way to go until the end of the season. The crowd absolutely adore him. The club adore him. He adores the club. He's one of the most incredible players, playing for a team on top of the world at the moment. I can't bring myself to think that he won't be here next season."
Kolo Toure: "He just said 'probably', which means there's a probability he could stay! We hope he stays in the Premier League."
