The Scout's panel of Fantasy Premier League experts give their thoughts on who to captain in Gameweek 17 ahead of the deadline at 11:00 GMT on Saturday 21 December.

Lee Bonfield (@FPLFamily)

Despite the big win for Spurs at the weekend, their defensive injury problems still exist, and indeed worsened when Destiny Udogie (£4.9m) went off against Southampton. If they take the same, high-octane, high-risk approach against Liverpool, Mohamed Salah (£13.4m) and company will find plenty of space in behind and get plenty of chances. I'm backing the Egyptian with the armband.

Holly Shand (@HollyShand

I'm likely to leave the armband on Salah for another week against a threadbare Spurs defence. He's blanked just once on the road this season, with double-digit hauls in each of his other six away trips.

Nick Harris (@WGTA_Nick)

This week the captain's armband goes on Salah. Spurs away may not be the easiest fixture on paper, but they have been suspect defensively, and with multiple injuries in the backline, I expect them to get exposed.

Gianni Buttice (@GianniButtice)

We can't ignore how inconsistent Spurs can be and Liverpool have the ability to score plenty of goals, which is why Salah feels so obvious this week.

Harry Daniels (@FPL_Harry

After Salah got a midweek rest in the EFL Cup, it is difficult to look past the Liverpool star, who is in such good form against a Spurs defence still missing several key players.

Oscar (@FPLFocal)

I've narrowed this week's captaincy down to Cole Palmer (£11.2m) and Salah, and after consideration, I'll be going with Salah. He's facing a Spurs side that are mid-table for Expectd Goals Conceded (xGC) this season, but further to that, will likely be without their first-choice centre-backs, goalkeeper and potentially their left-back.

Sam Bonfield (@FPLFamily)

Salah feels inevitable at the moment, and even though I hate captaining someone against my own team, this is likely to be a time where I let sensible FPL decision-making come before my heart. However, Alexander Isak (£8.7m) is a great option for the armband against a struggling Ipswich defence. If I owned him, I would be tempted.
