The Scout assesses the best way to invest in Liverpool players in Fantasy Premier League as managers rush to their key assets ahead of Gameweek 20's deadline of 11:00 GMT, Saturday 4 January.
Mohamed Salah (£13.6m) is already the most-owned player in Fantasy and is enjoying the best ever start to a season in history. The Egyptian has produced 17 goals, 13 assists and 202 points in 18 appearances under head coach Arne Slot.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.2m) is the second most-bought defender in the Gameweek, earning more than 170,000 new owners after delivering his season-high haul of 15 points against West Ham United.
Luis Diaz (£7.6m) is the most-bought midfielder this week, transferred in by 173,000+ managers, while Cody Gakpo (£7.3m) also places among the 10 most in-demand players, with 140,000+ transfers in making him the third most-popular recruit among forwards.
Listed as a midfielder but now mainly playing as a forward, Diaz is the Reds' second top-scoring player in 2024/25, scoring eight goals and assisting a further three to return 95 points.
Gakpo, on the other hand, is listed as a forward but appears to have secured the left wing role for Slot. The Dutchman has been involved in seven goals, scoring five and assisting two.
Liverpool's strong defensive displays are also reflected in the table below, which is an analysis of the Reds' top-performing players with at least 10 starts to their name.
At the back, Virgil van Dijk (£6.5m) is Alexander-Arnold's nearest challenger on 74 points, while Andrew Robertson (£5.9m), Ibrahima Konate (£5.1m) and Alisson (£5.4m) have each profited from at least five clean sheets.

Which players are the most reliable?
Along with defensive midfielder Ryan Gravenberch (£5.0m), Salah and Van Dijk are the only players to start all 18 of Liverpool's league matches under Slot.
Salah's 11.2 points per match (ppm) is at least TWICE the average of any team-mate this season, underlining his incredible showings in 2024/25.
Similarly, Alisson has started all 10 of the matches he has been available for, while all but one of both Alexander-Arnold and Robertson's 17 appearances have been as starters.
However, the same cannot be said of Diaz or Gakpo.
Diaz has started 12 matches and has shown his potential for big hauls by averaging 7.5ppm in those contests. But he has also appeared off the bench on FIVE occasions and - as recently as Gameweek 18 at home to Leicester City - was rested altogether. Due to those substitute outings, his average ppm over his 17 outings drops to 5.6.
It's a similar story for Gakpo here. The Dutchman has averaged 5.4ppm in the 10 matches he has started this season, placing third in the assessment. But a further EIGHT appearances off the bench mean Gakpo's season average drops to 3.4ppm, ranking him eighth out of the nine players in the table below.
Liverpool players' points averages 24/25
Player | Starts | Pts/start | Total appearances | Pts/match |

Diaz | 12 | 7.5 | 17 | 5.6 |
Alexander-Arnold | 16 | 4.8 | 17 | 4.9 |
Alisson | 10 | 4.5 | 10 | 4.5 |
Van Dijk | 18 | 4.1 | 18 | 4.1 |
Konate | 11 | 4.1 | 12 | 3.8 |
Szoboszlai | 12 | 4.7 | 17 | 3.5 |
Gakpo | 10 | 5.4 | 18 | 3.4 |
Robertson | 16 | 3.2 | 17 | 3.1 |
Who has been involved in the most big chances?
Salah's talismanic displays are once again very much in evidence here.
He has been involved in a massive 41 chances - situations where the player is expected to score. Not only is that a league-high total, it's more than TWICE the tally of any team-mate, with Diaz his nearest challenger on 16 big-chance involvements.
The attacking numbers also help to show the huge creativity of Alexander-Arnold from right-back. The England star has matched Salah's 36 key passes and has been involved in 12 big chances - placing him joint-third for Liverpool this season.
Diogo Jota's (£7.2m) statistics also help to underline his potential.
Although he's been limited to seven starts and four substitute outings due to injury, he has still been involved in 12 big chances. When selected, the Portuguese has either scored or assisted 47 per cent of his side's goals, compared with Diaz's 31 per cent and Gakpo's 30 per cent.

So, who are the best Liverpool players to own?
Alexander-Arnold's potential for both attacking and defensive returns, added to his security of starts, makes him the best pick to go alongside Salah in your squad.
The third slot is essentially down to how much risk you are willing to take. If you'd rather play it safe and avoid Slot's rotation, then Alisson - as attested by his 4.5 points per match - offers a relatively cheap double-up option along Alexander-Arnold at the back.
But if you're prepared to take a chance on Liverpool's teamsheets then Diaz's impressive average of 7.5 points per start clearly shows he has a far higher ceiling for returns.
Jota's high goal involvement shows he should not be overlooked, but the Portuguese looks to have a battle on his hands to reclaim a place in Slot's first-choice XI given their outstanding attacking displays of late.
