The race for the Premier League Golden Boot is heating up, with Mohamed Salah's four closest rivals all scoring on Saturday to close the gap on the runaway leader.
Salah’s nearest challenger Erling Haaland extended his return to form with a brace for Manchester City against West Ham United, making it three goals in two games after a three-match drought.
It was the Norwegian's first Premier League double since he netted both goals in City's 2-1 win over Brentford on 14 September, in Matchweek 4.
Haaland is now on 16 league goals, but Salah could add to his chart-topping tally of 17 when Liverpool host Manchester United on Sunday. The Egyptian has scored more goals against Man Utd than any other opponent, with 15.
Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak and Chelsea forward Cole Palmer moved closer to Salah on 13 goals apiece after both scored on Saturday.
Bryan Mbeumo is now level with them at joint-third in the rankings, after netting a double - including a penalty - in Brentford's 5-0 win at Southampton.
The Golden Boot race has already seen a lot of change since the start of the season. After Matchweek 5, Haaland was the clear leader with 10 goals, twice more than his nearest rival, Liverpool’s Luis Diaz.
Since then the goals have dried up for the Man City striker and by Matchweek 15, Salah had caught up with Haaland before moving ahead thanks to a run of 13 goals in 11 Premier League matches.
Isak is another player who has gone on an incredible run. Back in Matchweek 15, the Newcastle striker was not in the top nine but a run of nine goals in seven matches have lifted him to joint-third.
