Manchester City have completed the signing of defender Vitor Reis from Brazilian side Palmeiras.
The 19-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract at the Etihad Stadium.
Reis is Man City's third acquisition of the January transfer window, following the arrival of Claudio Echeverri, who officially joined the squad this month after spending last year on loan at River Plate, and defender Abdukodir Khusanov, who completed a move from Lens on Monday.
What did he have to say?
“Everyone has seen the amazing achievements in recent seasons, and I want to make my mark as we seek more trophies," Reis told the club's official website.
“Working with Pep Guardiola is something every young player wants to do, and I know he can help me to develop into the best player I can be.
“City also have a lot of experience of working with Brazilian footballers and joining the likes of Ederson and Savinho in the squad will be a big help to me.”
Who is Vitor Reis?
In 2016, Reis joined Palmeiras’s youth system, where talents such as Real Madrid’s Endrick, West Ham United’s Luis Guilherme, and Chelsea-bound Estevao Willian were nurtured.
At just 18, Reis broke into Palmeiras’ first team, making 33 appearances in all competitions during the 2024 season. This included 18 league matches, as he helped his team to a second-place finish in the Brazilian Serie A, just behind champions Botafogo.
He is primarily a centre-back but the right-footer is also capable of playing as a right-back.
On the international stage, Reis captained Brazil during the 2023 FIFA U17 World Cup.
