The Scout assesses the best way to invest in Liverpool in Fantasy Premier League for their kind schedule including their Double Gameweek 24 (DGW24), discussing whether you should triple up on players or leave a spot open to use the Assistant Manager chip on Arne Slot.
The Reds' short-term run of opponents has persuaded many managers to move early for their key defensive assets ahead of their DGW24 against AFC Bournemouth and Everton.
Liverpool host Ipswich Town this weekend, in Gameweek 23, and are at home again in Gameweek 25, welcoming Wolverhampton Wanderers to Anfield.
Liverpool's next three Gameweeks

23 | Ipswich (H) | 2 |

24 | Bournemouth (A), Everton (A) |

25 | Wolves (H) | 2 |
As a result of that fixture run, Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.2m) is the most-bought defender and third most-bought player overall ahead of Saturday’s 13:30 GMT deadline.
More than 179,000 managers have transferred in the right-back after he produced 11 points in Liverpool’s 2-0 win at Brentford on Saturday, his third double-figure haul of 2024/25.
Goalkeeper Alisson (£5.4m) is also the most-bought player in his position in Fantasy – 66,000+ managers have brought in the Brazilian after he registered nine points last time out.
Certainly, as the most-owned player in Fantasy, Mohamed Salah (£13.7m) is a must-have. He is also likely to be Triple-Captained by a host of his owners. Despite a pair of back-to-back blanks, the Egyptian’s potential for bumper hauls have helped him top the standings on 214 points, giving him a 51-point advantage over any other player.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s DGW24 also arrives in the very Gameweek when the new Assistant Manager chip becomes available, offering another tactical approach.
The Assistant Manager chip allows you to pick a manager and earn points from their club's results for three Gameweeks in a row. So if you played it on Arne Slot (£1.5m) in DGW24, you would profit from FOUR matches across three Gameweeks, as it would also include Liverpool's visit to Manchester City in Gameweek 26.
Notably, Slot has amassed 173 points this season – more than any player in Fantasy apart from Salah. If you currently own Salah and Alexander-Arnold, for example, and have already played your Triple Captain chip, then using the Assistant Manager chip on Slot over three Gameweeks essentially gives you a third Liverpool pick without using a precious free transfer.
Liverpool’s busy schedule across all competitions certainly suggests that Slot will have to rotate a number of players.
Their home encounter with French side Lille in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday evening is the first of eight matches across a 26-day period, which also takes in both domestic cup competitions in addition to those next four Premier League matches.
Indeed, it’s worth bearing in mind that Liverpool have TWO matches in between their pair of DGW24 fixtures, although it’s fair to say that the second of those contests – away to Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup – is the one in which Slot would be expected to rotate the heaviest, as it precedes the Merseyside derby at Everton.
Why Alexander-Arnold has huge potential for assists
A look at the data shows why Alexander-Arnold’s potential for points at both ends of the pitch makes him the best Liverpool player to pick alongside Salah.
The England star produced his fifth assist and eighth clean sheet of the season against Brentford. In doing so, he has already matched BOTH those totals from 2023/24 Fantasy.
Alexander-Arnold has created 42 goalscoring opportunities for his team-mates, with 13 of those deemed “big chances created” - or situations where the player is expected to score.
Those two totals are second only to Salah for the Reds and are each more than any other defender in 2024/25 Fantasy.
Liverpool's top creators 24/25
Player | Assists | Chances created | Big chances created |
Salah | 13 | 49 | 17 |
---|---|---|---|
Alexander-Arnold | 5 | 42 | 13 |
Szoboszlai | 5 | 29 | 6 |
Gakpo | 2 | 27 | 5 |
Mac Allister | 4 | 27 | 5 |
Robertson | 0 | 27 | 4 |
Diaz | 3 | 27 | 3 |
Elsewhere at the back, both Alisson and Virgil van Dijk (£6.4m) have started every league match they have been available for, an indication they are more likely to be immune to rotation than the rest of the Liverpool squad during this period.
Is Diaz or Gakpo the better attacker to pick alongside Salah?
If you’re looking to double up on Liverpool’s attack, it looks like a straight battle between Luis Diaz (£7.5m) and Cody Gakpo (£7.4m).
Both have mainly avoided rotation lately. Gakpo has started each of Liverpool’s last 10 league matches, since Gameweek 12, while Diaz has started eight of the last nine.
Gakpo’s run of starts has lifted his output considerably in this spell from Gameweek 12 onwards. Indeed, his 49 points are joint-second with Alexander-Arnold, albeit over one more appearance.
It is worth noting, though, that Diaz has matched the 4.9 points per start (pps) of Gakpo, an indication of how little there is between them.

So, who are the best Liverpool picks?
Salah and Alexander-Arnold are far and away the best two Liverpool picks over the coming period.
Liverpool’s pair of home matches on either side of their DGW24 suggests that investing in their attack with your third pick is likely to offer the greatest upside.
Tellingly, Gakpo has been involved in 32 per cent of the Reds’ goals when selected since Gameweek 12, compared with the 19 per cent of Diaz. That gives Gakpo the edge over the Colombian, while Alisson’s cost and security of minutes helps him run the Dutchman close.
For those who have already played their Triple Captain chip, Slot could prove a great differential with the Assistant Manager chip, particularly if you are wary over the prospect of rotation in the busy upcoming period.
