Southampton's Dom Ballard has been named the Premier League 2 (PL2) Player of the Month for January.
The 19-year-old kicked off the month by netting a hat-trick in Southampton’s 5-0 victory over Fulham. Ballard opened the scoring inside 10 minutes with a close-range finish before doubling his tally with a penalty. He completed his treble with a clinical finish from Sam Amo-Ameyaw's through-ball.

Ballard continued his fine form as he played a key role in Southampton's 4-2 win against Newcastle United. He put Saints 1-0 up and then provided two assists - first, squaring to Moses Sesay to restore Southampton's lead and later setting up Princewill Ehibhatiomhan for his team's fourth goal in the 90th minute.
Ballard topped a shortlist of eight candidates that was selected by the Premier League's Football Development Panel.
