For the first time EVER, more than three million chips are active in Fantasy Premier League.
The most popular is the Assistant Manager, which accounts for over 2m of that record number.
A total of 901,000+ managers have decided to activate the chip in Double Gameweek 25 (DGW25), adding to the 1.1m who took the first opportunity to use it in Double Gameweek 24 (DGW24). Once deployed, the new chip remains active for three successive Gameweeks.
On top of that, over 636,000 Fantasy bosses have chosen to use their Triple Captain chip, with the vast majority of those - nearly 97 per cent - backing Mohamed Salah (£13.7m).
With Wildcards, Free Hits and Bench Boosts also being used, the total number of chips in play has broken the 3m barrier.
GW25 active chips
Chip | Active |
---|---|
Assistant Manager | 2,079,117 |
Triple Captain | 636,104 |
Wildcard | 127,582 |
Free Hit | 92,674 |
Bench Boost | 82,673 |
Liverpool's Arne Slot (£1.5m) is the most-selected Assistant Manager, found in excess of 890,000 teams after his ownership increased by more than 312,000.
With two matches in DGW25, he got off to a good start as Liverpool beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1, earning the Dutch tactician eight points thanks to the win and two goals.
He's the first manager to surpass 200 points in 2024/25 Fantasy, moving up to 206 in total.
And he'll have the chance to add to that total when his side visits Aston Villa on Wednesday, in their second match of the round.
GW25 most-selected Assistant Managers
Player | Selected by | Pts |
---|---|---|
Slot | 890,234 | 8 |
Emery | 533,582 | 4 |
Moyes | 265,876 | 8 |
Iraola | 140,875 | 9 |
Arteta | 87,592 | 10 |
Unai Emery (£0.8m) has also been in demand, with Aston Villa the other team playing twice in DGW25.
Found in 533,000+ Fantasy squads, his owners endured a frustrating start as Villa drew 1-1 at home to Ipswich Town, gaining four points.
Emery's side accrued an Expected Goals (xG) of 2.01 against Ipswich, and had 25 attempts on goal, but had to settle for a point at Villa Park.
They will be hoping for a better outcome when they welcome Liverpool in midweek.
Third in the popularity stakes for DGW25, David Moyes (£0.5m) continued his fine form as Everton beat Crystal Palace 2-1. He earned eight points thanks to the win and two goals, taking his tally to a league-high 49 over the last four matches.
Everton were 16th in the Premier League table when Moyes took charge ahead of Gameweek 23 and the Scot has benefitted from table bonus in two of those four matches.
There was no table bonus on offer on this occasion, however, with Crystal Palace just one place above Everton.
Tellingly, over 188,000 people made the direct switch to Emery for DGW25, who could earn table-bonus points against Liverpool. So far, however, that decision has cost them four points.
Fifth-most Triple Captain chips played
In DGW24 Salah equalled his best EVER Gameweek score in Fantasy as he registered 29 points from his two matches versus Bournemouth and Everton, combining three goals with an assist and six bonus points.
He scored once again in the win over Wolves, claiming a share of the bonus for an eight-point return.
For the second successive Gameweek, he's among the top five most Triple-Captained players of all time, with more than 613,000 managers hoping for another huge score.
Salah has also been captained by every member of the top 100 managers in the overall standings. It's the first time a player has received a 100 per cent backing from Fantasy's elite bosses since Erling Haaland (£14.7m) faced Southampton in Gameweek 10 of the 2022/23 campaign.
