Week after week, Mohamed Salah seems to set records and reach new milestones, and this was again the case in Liverpool's 2-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday that took them 11 points clear at the top of the table.
After opening the scoring at the Etihad Stadium, Salah then turned provider for Liverpool's second, setting up Dominik Szoboszlai to finish.
In doing so, Salah became the FIRST player in Premier League history to score AND assist in both matches against the reigning champions in a season.
Salah also made it nine goals and six assists against sides managed by Pep Guardiola, the most by any player over the Spaniard’s top-flight league managerial career.
The Egyptian scored his 16th away league goal of the season at the Etihad Stadium, moving him level with Kevin Phillips (1999/00) and Harry Kane (2022/23) for the most in a single Premier League campaign.
Assist king
Salah's pass for Szoboszlai was his 11th away assist of the season, a joint-record he now shares with Cesc Fabregas, who achieved that total in 2014/15 with Chelsea.
Meanwhile, his 16 assists overall this season are more than ANY Liverpool player in Premier League history, overtaking Steve McManaman's tally of 15 in 1995/96.
Matching Messi
It also means Salah has scored and assisted in 11 Premier League matches in 2024/25, the most by a player in a single season in one of Europe's big five leagues since Lionel Messi did so with 11 for Barcelona in 2014/15.
Liverpool's forward currently leads the way with 25 goals and 16 assists in the Premier League this season, for a combined total of 41 goal contributions.
He is one of just three players to achieve such a feat, alongside Erling Haaland's 44 in 2022/23 and the 43 of Luis Suarez in 2013/14, while he is the ONLY player to ever hit the 40+ mark TWICE for that many goal involvements in a single Premier League season, previously doing so in 2017/18.
Impressively, Salah is the FIRST player to register 25+ goals and 15+ assists in a Premier League season.
Across all competitions, Salah became the FIRST player across Europe’s top five leagues to be directly involved in 50 goals in 2024/25.
