Aston Villa produced the most eye-catching performance of the Premier League weekend as they emphatically defeated Newcastle United 4-1 - a significant result in the race for UEFA Champions League places.
Ollie Watkins was at the forefront for Unai Emery's side, scoring after just 33 seconds with a deflected right-foot shot, and going close to a perfect first-half hat-trick when his left-foot and headed efforts hit the woodwork.
And when Newcastle cancelled out his rapid opener with a Fabian Schar header, Watkins went on to set up the goal that vitally gave Villa the lead again, through Ian Maatsen in the second half.
The centre-forward admitted after the match he had been angry to be left out of Villa's starting XI for both legs of their Champions League quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain.
"I'm not going to lie - I was fuming I wasn't playing," said Watkins, on Sky Sports. "I let him [Emery] know that. He's the manager at the end of the day. I respect his decision. But I'm not one of the players happy to sit on the bench."
If Watkins channelled that frustration, he did so at the expense of Newcastle, to the begrudging respect of their club legend Alan Shearer. The Premier League's record goalscorer has selected the Villa striker in his Team of the Week.

Pedro Neto (Chelsea)

Martin Odegaard (Arsenal)
"Did everything other than score as Arsenal overwhelmed Ipswich. An impressive captain's performance."

"Superb in the No 10 role and was rewarded with an assist when Amadou Onana's fantastic strike made it 4-1."
