Tottenham Hotspur will assess defender Kieran Trippier, who could play after an ankle problem.

Danny Rose (knee), Erik Lamela (hip) and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou remain unavailable.

Tiemoue Bakayoko could be in the Chelsea squad for the first time after recovering from a knee injury.

Pedro (ankle) is doubtful despite returning to training and Eden Hazard (also ankle) is not yet fully fit, though is close to a return. Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas are suspended.

Chelsea have lost only two of their last 17 matches in all competitions against Tottenham Hotspur (W8 D7 L2).

But Spurs haven't lost a Premier League London derby at home under Mauricio Pochettino (W9 D4 L0).

Chelsea are looking to avoid becoming the first reigning champions to lose their opening two matches of the following PL season.

Mauricio Pochettino: "It is tough to play against Chelsea, but we are excited after the result against Newcastle, so we are confident and now we must apply everything and try to win."
