Pape Souare was delighted at a first return to competitive action since a car crash one year ago.
The 27-year-old defender played a half for Crystal Palace in a Professional Development League match against Nottingham Forest at Selhurst Park on Tuesday and expressed his gratitude to the medical team who have helped his recovery from a fractured thigh and jaw.
“This is my first main injury I have had since playing football and really I am just delighted to be in a position to be playing," Souare told cpfc.co.uk. "I would like to thank the medical team for all the work they have done to get me back to this stage so that I am ready to be playing again."
