Sofiane Boufal has won October's Carling Goal of the Month for what he has described as "the best goal" of his career.
With just five minutes remaining of Southampton’s home match against West Bromwich Albion on 21 October, the Saints midfielder picked the ball up in his own half, tricked his way past three opponents and then embarked on a mazy 60-yard run before beating Ben Foster with an assured finish from outside the penalty area.
"It was a good goal and I am so happy to win this trophy," Boufal said of his winning effort. "It’s my best goal. My preference is a mazy run; it’s more fun."
The 24-year-old led an eight-goal shortlist thanks to the combined votes of a panel of experts and the public, who picked their favourite via the Carling Tap and Carling website.
