With the vote for the EA SPORTS Player of the Month now open, we profile each of the eight December nominees.
Jesse Lingard
Lingard scored as many goals in December as he had managed in his previous two seasons combined.
The midfielder's five-goal month started and ended with a brace.
The first was at Emirates Stadium, helping to end Arsenal's 12-match home winning run. The last as a half-time substitute as Manchester United fought from two goals down to draw against Burnley.
He also scored what proved to be the winner at West Bromwich Albion, and got an assist against Leicester City, as United ended December W3 D3 L1.
What his manager says
"He's in a clear evolution," Jose Mourinho told Man Utd’s official website. "I think he’s comfortable in the positions he plays, I think he’s improving with the progressive style of play of the team.
"He’s playing progressively in a different way which makes him feel even more like a fish in the water and he’s in this moment where things go well for him.
"If a negative moment arrives, I don’t think he will lose this stability that he’s showing. He’s mature, he understands the game better, so clearly he’s becoming a real player."
