Arsenal will start their Premier League campaign with an inexperienced centre-back pairing in place against Liverpool on Sunday.

Laurent Koscielny is set to be missing at Emirates Stadium while he recovers from UEFA Euro 2016 and with both Gabriel Paulista (£5.0m) and Per Mertesacker (£5.0m) injured, Arsene Wenger could turn to Calum Chambers and new signing Rob Holding (both £4.5m) in his defence.

Jurgen Klopp's side are likely to be without Daniel Sturridge (£10.0m) with a hip problem. This could lead to one of Roberto Firmino (£8.5m) and Sadio Mane (£9.0m) being moved up from midfield as a “false nine”.

Leicester City will be hoping to take advantage of Hull City’s injury crisis in the season opener at the KCOM Stadium. The Tigers are without first-choice goalkeeper Allan McGregor and have just one fit centre-half.

Curtis Davies (£5.0m) is set to be partnered by midfielder Jake Livermore (£5.0m) in the heart of their back four.

Eldin Jakupovic should start between the posts for Hull and is likely to be the only £4.0m-priced goalkeeper in action over the weekend.

Manchester United’s Paul Pogba (£8.5m) misses Gameweek 1 at AFC Bournemouth along with team-mate Chris Smalling (£6.0m) due to suspension. The midfielder serves a one-match ban carried over from his final match with Juventus in the Coppa Italia.

Eric Bailly (£5.5m) looks poised to earn a Premier League debut for United, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan (£9.5m) likely to earn his introduction from the bench.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman is without summer signing Ashley Williams (£5.0m) due to a lack of match fitness as the Toffees welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Goodison Park.

Right-back Seamus Coleman (£5.5m) is hoping to overcome an ankle problem and there are worries over Romelu Lukaku (£9.0m), who was forced off with a heel problem last weekend against Espanyol.

Koeman is expected to turn to Phil Jagielka (£5.0m) and Ramiro Funes Mori (£5.0m) in central defence, with Maarten Stekelenburg (£5.0m) preferred in goal.

Southampton will assess the fitness of Jose Fonte (£5.5m) and Cedric Soares (£5.0m) after the defensive pair returned to pre-season training late as a result of Portugal’s triumph at Euro 2016.

Ryan Bertrand (£5.5m) misses out for Claude Puel’s side with a knee complaint, meaning Matt Targett (£4.5m) would seem most likely to start at left-back.

Slaven Bilic has yet to decide how Dimitri Payet (£9.5m) will be used for West Ham United’s trip to Chelsea on Monday evening. The Hammers manager admitted his playmaker is not fit enough to play 90 minutes due to his summer exertions with France and so could hand Andre Ayew (£7.5m) his debut, possibly in the support-striker role behind Andy Carroll (£6.5m).

Stoke City will make the trip to Middlesbrough without Jack Butland (£5.0m). The Potters goalkeeper sustained an ankle injury in training, with Shay Given (£4.5m) set to deputise.
