1999: Davor Suker joins Arsenal

Davor Suker signed for Arsenal, arriving from Real Madrid.

The Croatian striker only spent one season with the Gunners but scored eight goals in his 22 Premier League appearances and played in the UEFA Cup final, which Arsenal lost to Galatasaray on penalties.

Suker moved on to West Ham United in June 2000.

2001: Steed Malbranque signs for Fulham

Having just been promoted to the Premier League, Fulham broke their transfer record to recruit midfielder Steed Malbranque from Lyon.

Malbranque scored eight PL goals in his debut season and only missed two top-flight fixtures in his first three campaigns with the Cottagers.

He ended up making 172 PL appearances during his five years at Fulham, scoring 32 goals, before moving on to Tottenham Hotspur and then Sunderland.
