1999: Arsenal sign Thierry Henry

Arsenal signed Thierry Henry, who went on to become their all-time record goalscorer over the course of eight seasons.

The French striker netted 174 goals in his 254 Premier League appearances between the summers of 1999 and 2007, and 226 in all competitions.

Henry won the Golden Boot four times, three of those coming in consecutive seasons, and was twice a title-winner, including in the 2003/04 campaign when Arsene Wenger's 'Invincibles' avoided a single top-flight defeat.

He left for Barcelona but returned to Arsenal for a brief loan spell in 2012, adding one more PL goal to his tally.

Free agent Edgar Davids left Inter Milan and joined Martin Jol’s Tottenham Hotspur side.

The Dutch midfielder spent one and a half seasons with Spurs, making 40 PL appearances, before returning to his former club Ajax in January 2007.
