2003: Gael Clichy joins Arsenal
Arsene Wenger signed 17-year-old full-back Gael Clichy from Cannes.
Despite the presence of Ashley Cole, the Frenchman made 34 Premier League starts in his first three seasons, before becoming the first-choice left-back in the 2006/07 campaign after Cole left for Chelsea.
Clichy made 187 top-flight appearances in his eight campaigns with the Gunners, winning the title in 2003/04 and the FA Cup in 2004/05.
He left to join Manchester City in the summer of 2011.
2003: Frederic Kanoute signs for Tottenham Hotspur
Striker Frederic Kanoute left relegated West Ham United and moved across London to sign for Tottenham Hotspur.
He scored on his Premier League debut, replacing Bobby Zamora in the 61st minute and hitting the winner 10 minutes later in a 2-1 home victory over Leeds United.
Kanoute went on to net 14 times in 60 PL appearances for Spurs before moving on to Sevilla at the start of the 2005/06 season.
