1995: Leeds United 3-1 Manchester United

Leeds United overcame Manchester United 3-1, undermining their visitors’ pursuit of leaders Newcastle United in the only ever Premier League match to take place on Christmas Eve.

Gary McAllister’s penalty gave the hosts a seventh-minute lead and, although Andrew Cole equalised, Tony Yeboah and Brian Deane ensured Leeds emerged victorious.

They remained ninth in the table but moved to 28 points, while Man Utd stayed second with 35 points, 10 behind Newcastle.

2013: Clint Dempsey rejoins Fulham

United States international Clint Dempsey rejoined Fulham on a two-month loan deal from Seattle Sounders.

Dempsey had left Fulham to join Tottenham Hotspur in 2012 before moving on to join MLS side Seattle in the summer of 2013.

He had made 184 PL appearances for Fulham between January 2007 and May 2012, scoring 50 goals.
