1994: Manchester City 2-2 Aston Villa

Aston Villa fought back from two goals down to secure a draw at Manchester City, with the final three goals of the match arriving in the space of five second-half minutes.

Uwe Rosler gave Man City a half-time lead and then doubled the hosts’ advantage in the 54th minute. But his second strike was immediately cancelled out by Ian Brightwell’s own goal, and Dean Saunders equalised in the 59th minute.

Villa dropped to 20th place out of the 22 teams, despite their comeback, as they were overtaken by a victorious Everton team. Man City remained 11th, with 29 points.

2011: Manchester United 2-3 Blackburn Rovers

Manchester United suffered a shock home defeat to bottom club Blackburn Rovers at Old Trafford.

Yakubu gave Blackburn the lead from the penalty spot and then gave the travelling fans further cause for excitement when he doubled the lead in the 51st minute.

Man Utd seemed to have salvaged the situation as Dimitar Berbatov immediately halved the deficit and then equalised 10 minutes later, giving the hosts half an hour to find a winner.

But it was Blackburn who grabbed all three points thanks to Grant Hanley’s 80th-minute header.

The result left United in second place on 45 points, three points behind league leaders Manchester City. Blackburn remained at the foot of the table but moved to 14 points, three from safety.
