2001: Gus Poyet joins Spurs from Chelsea
Gus Poyet moved to Tottenham Hotspur from London rivals Chelsea on a three-year contract.
The 33-year-old Uruguay midfielder scored 36 goals in four successful Premier League seasons with the Blues.
He continued his goalscoring form with 10 goals in 34 outings during his first PL campaign for Spurs, the fourth successive season in which he reached double figures.
Poyet added eight goals in 48 PL matches during his last two seasons at the club, before retiring from professional football.
2012: Jay Rodriguez signs for Southampton
Southampton made Jay Rodriguez their club-record signing ahead of their return to the Premier League.
Saints manager Nigel Adkins signed the 22-year-old Burnley striker to boost the promoted side’s attacking options.
Rodriguez scored six goals in his debut season at Southampton as they secured safety with a 14th-place finish.
Under head coach Mauricio Pochettino, Rodriguez was Saints’ top scorer in 2013/14, scoring 15 goals before suffering a knee injury that ruled him out of the following campaign.
After five seasons at St Mary’s Stadium, Rodriguez left for West Bromwich Albion in the summer of 2017.
