Ahead of Friday's 19:00 BST deadline for submitting your Fantasy Premier League squad, The Scout offers some basic tips on how to build your 15-man squad.
DO
Invest your £100m budget on the pitch
You can only field 11 players in each Gameweek, so spend big on your starting line-up. Seek out cut-price starters who can come off your bench if required.
Select only one or two captain options
There is a reason that players such as Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) and Harry Kane (£12.5m) are the most expensive in the game. Go for reliable big-hitting captains to begin with.
Plan for the short-term
With a free transfer each week and a Wildcard to be used in each half of the season, there is no need to look too far ahead. Plan with the first three or four Gameweeks in mind.
DON'T
Overload on new Premier League players
Most need time to adjust to their new team-mates and tactics. Limit yourself to one or two such “gambles” and stick to proven FPL performers.
Be swayed by pre-season form
Summer friendlies are mainly about building up fitness levels. A hat-trick against non-league opponents may boost a player’s confidence but it rarely translates to FPL form.
Pick players who are uncertain starters
Don’t give your mini-league rivals the chance to gain an early advantage. Limit the risk to your player selection and opt for secure picks in the opening stages.
