If you haven't tried Fantasy Premier League Draft, now is the ideal time to take on a new challenge over the remaining 34 Gameweeks and The Scout has some tips to guide you.

If your Draft league has eight teams or so The Scout looks at strategies when selecting forwards.

Forwards in eight-team leagues

Managers in eight-team FPL Draft leagues have to look beyond the obvious options up front because the competition for forwards is tougher.

The table at the bottom shows the shifts in popularity for forwards in eight-team leagues.

If you are about to hold your draft you can see where others are making their selections and where they have changed.

When selecting forwards, in particular, the tactics of Premier League managers is a big factor in FPL Draft.

Lone strikers dominate

After just four Gameweeks, only two of the 20 teams have more than one forward with four starts.

Callum Wilson and Joshua King have been first-choice picks for AFC Bournemouth.

But the Watford duo of Troy Deeney and Andre Gray have had a bigger impact on the plans of FPL Draft managers.

They have profited from head coach Javi Gracia’s 4-4-2 formation, helping the Hornets to four successive wins.

Watford forward power

Deeney sat in an average of 111 of the latest 125 eight-man Draft squads for his Gameweek 4 home match with Tottenham Hotspur.

He rewarded that faith, scoring his second goal of 2018/19 in the 2-1 victory.

However, in Gameweek 1 eight-team leagues, he had been started by just 79 managers.

His team-mate Gray has seen his selection climb from 24 teams at the start to 52 more recently.

Gray has also been on the scoresheet, in a 3-1 win at Burnley in Gameweek 2.

Joselu rethink?

Interest in Joselu has also increased after the Newcastle United striker scored two goals in the first three Gameweeks.

However, his owners might have to reconsider their options.

The Spaniard started Newcastle’s first two matches but has since made back-to-back appearances as a substitute.
