Charlie Seaman's brilliant free-kick kept up AFC Bournemouth's winning start in the Premier League Cup as they beat West Bromwich Albion 2-1 at Vitality Stadium.

Callum Morton put West Brom ahead on 10 minutes, before Gavin Kilkenny made it 1-1 with a low strike into the corner.

Seaman fired the winner beyond West Brom goalkeeper Alex Palmer from 25 yards on 41 minutes.

Victory puts Group C leaders AFC Bournemouth on six points from two matches, three clear of second-placed West Brom.

Everton edge past Blackburn

Also on Friday night, Morgan Feeney netted the decisive goal to earn Everton a second successive PL Cup victory as they beat Blackburn Rovers 1-0 in Group B.

Feeney rose highest to powerfully head in a Josh Bowler corner on 36 minutes at Leyland County Ground.

That win means Everton join leaders Sheffield United on six points from two matches. Blackburn are yet to pick up a point.

Sorensen strike earns Newcastle point

A late strike from Elias Sorensen earned Newcastle United a 1-1 draw at Southampton in Group H.

Saints went ahead on 18 minutes at Staplewood when Marcus Barnes found the net.

But Sorensen's 14th goal in all competitions left both sides level on four points from two matches at the top of their group.

Britsol City held by Plymouth

A second successive draw ensured Plymouth Argyle continued their unbeaten start to Group F as they drew 0-0 at Bristol City.
