Marko Arnautovic and Peter Crouch were on target as Stoke City completed a 3-1 victory at Sunderland.
Arnautovic first struck on the quarter-hour mark after Vito Mannone had saved his initial shot, and the Austria international doubled his tally seven minutes later after two quickfire one-twos.
Crouch beat Mannone to a hanging cross to head in his 99th Premier League goal before Jermain Defoe raced clear to register his 12th league strike of the season – and 21st in the month of January, two shy of Alan Shearer’s record – five minutes before the break.
The win ends a three-match losing streak away from home for Stoke, who go ninth, while Sunderland are 19th, a point from safety.
