Danny Ings scored twice as Southampton beat Aston Villa 3-1 to climb above their opponents and out of the Premier League's bottom three.
Ings moved on to 11 league goals for the season by scoring either side of a Jack Stephens header to put the visitors in control at Villa Park.
Saints went ahead on 21 minutes when Ings followed up Shane Long’s low shot, which was parried by Villa goalkeeper Tom Heaton.
Stephens doubled the lead 10 minutes later with a flicked header from James Ward-Prowse’s corner.
Ings scored again six minutes into the second half with a close-range finish.
Southampton were denied a first league clean sheet in 13 matches when Jack Grealish pulled a goal back with a stunning volley from the edge of the area.
Southampton switch places with Villa, moving up to 17th with 18 points. Villa remain on 15 points.
