Sunderland 2-3 Crystal Palace

Match report

20 Sep 2016

Christian Benteke’s stoppage-time header stunned Sunderland as Crystal Palace fought back from two goals down to win at the Stadium of Light.

Jermain Defoe capitalised upon a defensive error to give Sunderland a half-time lead and the home side looked set for a first league win under David Moyes when the striker got a second on the hour.

But within a minute Joe Ledley pulled a goal back for Palace, who were level with quarter of an hour to play through James McArthur's header.

Benteke rose above the Sunderland defence in the fourth minute of time added on to head in Lee Chung-yong's cross and complete the comeback.
