Managers in Fantasy Premier League who captained Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.0m) were rewarded with a 12-point haul in Gameweek 1.
The Gabon international was the third-most selected armband pick for his trip to Newcastle United.
Aubameyang was on the scoresheet at St James' Park, firing in a second-half winner on Sunday afternoon.
But he was overshadowed by a trio of big-hitting rivals, who racked up double-figure returns.
GW1’s most-captained players
Player | Captained by | Points |

Mohamed Salah | 1,561,463 | 12 |
Harry Kane | 748,201 | 13 |
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang | 507,891 | 6 |
Sergio Aguero | 454,060 | 5 |
Raheem Sterling | 309,567 | 20 |
Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) got Gameweek 1 off to a flying start.
He was the runaway armband choice for the Gameweek, backed by 1.6million, more than double any other player.
The winger made an immediate impact with a goal and an assist in Liverpool's 4-1 win over Norwich City on Friday evening.
That earned Salah 12 points against the Canaries, or 24 points with the captaincy.
But both Raheem Sterling (£12.0m) and Harry Kane (£11.0m) surpassed that haul on Saturday.
Sterling fired a hat-trick at West Ham United at lunchtime, serving up a 20-point return in an emphatic 5-0 win for Manchester City.
And Kane's late brace for Tottenham Hotspur earned him 13 points in a 3-1 win over Aston Villa.
Tripling up
Salah and Kane were also the dominant players when it came to picking Triple Captains.
Again, it was the Egyptian who claimed top spot, earning more than twice the number of votes as the Spurs man in second.
And Salah's team-mate Virgil van Dijk (£6.5m) was the third-most backed Triple Captain.
GW1 Triple Captains

---|---|
Salah | 74,941 |
Kane | 36,253 |
Van Dijk | 25,953 |
Aguero | 25,298 |
Aubameyang | 24,321 |
Owned by 51.07 per cent, the Liverpool centre-back is the most-selected player in FPL.
And he quickly rewarded that show of faith with a goal and eight-point return.
Only 10,761 played the Triple Captain chip on Sterling, and they were treated to a 60-point return from the winger.
Meanwhile, the Reds’ Divock Origi (£5.5m) was a huge differential success in the season opener.
The Belgian matched Salah’s 12 points against the Canaries, with a goal, an assist and the maximum bonus points.
But only 9,164 managers captained Origi, while just 396 managers had the foresight to play their Triple Captain chip on him.
