Jahmal Hector-Ingram scored twice and got an assist as Derby County came from behind to end Everton's unbeaten start with a 4-1 win in Premier League 2 Division 1.
The teams came into the match separated by just a point in second and third place respectively and it was finely poised at half-time after goals from Everton's Ellis Simms and Derby's Louie Sibley.
But hosts Derby took control after the break at Pride Park with Hector-Ingram netting a tap-in and a penalty in the space of nine minutes.
The win was sealed after 81 minutes when Josh Shonibare scored from 25 yards to keep Derby one point behind leaders Chelsea, who won at Arsenal on Friday.
Defending champions Everton's first loss leaves them third, five points off the top.
