2014: Cardiff City 3-6 Liverpool
Luis Suarez equalled Robbie Fowler’s 28-goal record after scoring a hat-trick in Liverpool’s 6-3 victory over Cardiff City.
Cardiff twice took the lead through Jordon Mutch and Fraizer Campbell. Suarez and Martin Skrtel had levelled on both occasions for Liverpool, before the latter headed in to give the Reds a 3-2 lead.
Suarez and Daniel Sturridge then added one each, before Mutch’s consolation and Suarez's third.
The result kept the pressure on leaders Chelsea who were just four points ahead of Liverpool in second. Cardiff remained in 19th on 25 points after fellow relegation strugglers Fulham and Sunderland also lost.
2014: West Ham United 0-2 Manchester United
Two goals from Wayne Rooney secured Manchester United’s ninth away league win of the season against West Ham United.
Rooney put his side ahead with an exquisite lob from the halfway line, reminiscent of David Beckham’s against Wimbledon in 1996, and the former Man Utd star was watching on at Upton Park.
Rooney added a second which moved United, on 51 points in 7th, back to within three points of sixth-placed Everton. The defeat for West Ham left them in 14th with 31 points.
