After achieving a scoring record with Arsenal, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has turned his attentions to catching Jamie Vardy in the race for the Premier League's 2019/20 Golden Boot.

Against Norwich City last week Aubameyang netted his 50th Premier League goal in just his 79th match, getting to the landmark four fixtures quicker than club legend Thierry Henry.

Having reached his half-century, the striker has since taken his tally to 52 in the competition as well as 20 for the season.

"I feel proud, I feel really proud," Aubameyang said after receiving his Premier League Milestone, in association with Cadbury. "It is a big achievement but I am a competitor and I want more so obviously I want to score more goals."

Aubameyang is three goals behind Leicester City striker Vardy in his quest for the Golden Boot, an award he jointly shared with Liverpool's Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah in 2018/19.

Asked whether he thinks about his rivalry with Vardy, Aubameyang said: “Just a little bit, to tell you the truth! I am a human being so of course sometimes I think about it.

"When he scores, I am like, 'OK, we need to work hard.'

"But it is not my priority, the most important thing is to score and to help the team, that is the main thing and then if I can catch Vardy now, I will take it."

As for which of his goals he would count as his favourite, Aubameyang went for one that will delight Arsenal supporters.

"I would think the one against Tottenham last season, the second one," he said.

"It was 2-2 and I drew the game, it was a special goal, first touch and one of my favourite goals here."
