The arrival of Edinson Cavani (£8.0m) could have an impact on the prospects of Manchester United's key attackers in Fantasy Premier League this season.
Anthony Martial (£8.9m) has been playing as the lone striker for Manchester United since midway through 2019/20.
But the signing of Cavani, combined with Martial’s versatility, may mean the Frenchman is occasionally used as a winger from now on.
Proven goalscorer
Cavani has been among the most prolific forwards in Europe in recent years.
He scored 138 goals in 200 league appearances for Paris Saint-Germain across the last seven seasons.
Depending on his fitness, the Uruguayan could be quickly handed a chance to get goals.
This is because Martial is suspended for the next three Gameweeks following his dismissal against Tottenham Hotspur in Gameweek 4.
Potential ramifications
In the long term, it remains to be seen whether 33-year-old Cavani will be a regular starter this season.
But when he features as a substitute, he will have an impact on Man Utd's set-up.
Cavani is best-suited to the No 9 role and is likely to earn minutes only as a centre-forward.
When the Uruguayan is on the pitch, Martial would be expected to move to the left flank in Solskjaer’s lone-striker formation.
And that could also impact on the opposite wing.
Marcus Rashford (£9.5m) could then switch to the right, competing with Mason Greenwood (£7.4m) for minutes whenever Cavani is involved.
