The consistency of Bruno Fernandes (£11.2m) could prove decisive when selecting a captain for Gameweek 17 of Fantasy Premier League.

Manchester United’s playmaker has a home fixture against Aston Villa, having contributed three goals, three assists and 35 points in the last three Gameweeks.

Fernandes has also been the most explosive armband pick this season. His total of seven double-digit returns is more than any other player in FPL.

Rashford also has the form to profit against Dean Smith’s side on Friday. He has scored four of his seven goals this season in the last four Gameweeks.

Persevere with Salah?

Mohamed Salah (£12.6m) can bounce back from successive blanks when Liverpool visit Southampton on Monday.

He has a prolific record against Saints, scoring seven goals in his last six meetings.

Return to form for Spurs duo?

Tottenham Hotspur’s home meeting with Leeds United also boosts the armband appeal of Harry Kane (£11.0m) and Son Heung-min (£9.7m).

At home, Kane’s total of 13 shots on target is joint-top among all players this season. When selected, he has been involved in 80 per cent of Spurs’ home goals.

Son has been the more explosive of the two, however, recording six double-figure hauls to the four of Kane.

The South Korean's pace on the counter-attack could be a major weapon against Leeds' high defensive line.

Other options

Jamie Vardy (£10.2m) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.9m) offer further options for the captaincy.

Leicester City’s Vardy has averaged 9.3 points per away match ahead of the trip to Newcastle United.

Four of his five double-figure hauls this term have come on the road.

Calvert-Lewin, meanwhile, enjoyed a successful previous meeting with his visitors, West Ham United

The Everton frontman scored a hat-trick in a 4-1 home win in the EFL Cup earlier this season.
