How the Premier League's awards work

Eight players were shortlisted for March 2021's EA SPORTS Player of the Month award.

The votes from the public, made on the EA SPORTS website, were combined with those of the 20 club captains and a panel of football experts to decide the winner.

Andreas Christensen (CHE)

The centre-back produced a series of outstanding defensive displays as Chelsea went unbeaten and didn't concede a goal in the month. That run included wins over Liverpool and Everton

Kelechi Iheanacho (LEI)

The Nigerian striker stepped up in the absence of injured James Maddison and Harvey Barnes in style, with his first Premier League hat-trick against Sheffield United among his five goals in March.

Harry Kane (TOT)

Kane had a league-high five goal involvements this month, producing two goals and two assists in a 4-1 win over Crystal Palace before scoring at Aston Villa.

Jesse Lingard (WHU)

Lingard continued his dream start to his loan spell at West Ham United, scoring against Leeds United and getting a goal and an assist versus Arsenal. He was ineligible to face parent club Manchester United in their other March fixture.

Riyad Mahrez (MCI)

Manchester City’s Algerian winger scored with a fine finish to help earn a late victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Etihad Stadium, before finding the net twice at the same ground in a 5-2 win against Southampton.

Illan Meslier (LEE)

Leeds’ Frenchman made the most saves of any goalkeeper in March, with eight of his 16 stops coming in a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Chelsea. He also impressed in the win at Fulham.

Luke Shaw (MUN)

The left-back played a key role in three clean sheets and two victories in an unbeaten month for Man Utd, and he also scored only his second PL goal in their 2-0 derby triumph at Man City.​ 

Leandro Trossard (BHA)
P3 W2 D0 L1​ G2 A1

Trossard was instrumental as Brighton & Hove Albion claimed back-to-back wins to boost their bid for safety, scoring the winner at Southampton before getting a goal and an assist versus Newcastle United.
