The Scout’s panel of experts discuss the best players in each position to consider for Fantasy Premier League squads.

There are two names who are the first to be added to my squad: Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) and Bruno Fernandes (£12.0m).

Both have the ability to score 300 points this season. They are on penalties and provide consistently good captaincy options on a weekly basis.

Liverpool’s Salah is the obvious reliable name in this bracket.

One name I'm closely monitoring is Riyad Mahrez (£9.0m). If he starts for Manchester City, he will get you points. If he starts is the big question, though.

It's hard to top Fernandes at the top end of the midfield price bracket but the best value is Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish (£8.0m), who was on pace for 10 goals and 19 assists over around 3,000 minutes before his injury.

Salah and Fernandes don't need any introduction. It should be clear that both these talismen, who offer you a captain option every week, are great FPL picks and should be highly considered by managers.

It's Salah for me, although he is very closely followed by Fernandes.

Salah was the top goalscoring midfielder last season, with the Portuguese second. The Manchester United man, meanwhile, placed first for assists and was the top FPL points scorer in 2020/21. Finding a way to own both feels essential.

Son Heung-min (£10.0m) is a great pick given his price. He has captain potential and those holding the Tottenham Hotspur star could benefit hugely from his lower ownership compared with other premium assets.

Spurs' new signing Bryan Gil (£6.0m) looks like he could strike up a good partnership with the South Korean.

Salah, Fernandes, Son, the list is endless at the very top end. But I'm going to go for Chelsea's Mason Mount (£7.5m). He may be a “wait and see” for many, particularly as England’s progress to the UEFA Euro 2020 final means he may be eased back in by Thomas Tuchel.

However, from Gameweek 7, when the fixtures improve, Mount could thrive in Fantasy, particularly if the likes of Timo Werner (£9.0m) can start finishing more of the chances the midfielder creates.
