Watkins has emerged as a key performer for the Midlands outfit since the arrival of Unai Emery in Gameweek 15.
He has been involved in a team-leading 50 per cent of their goals for the Spaniard when selected, scoring two and assisting two.
The 27-year-old has recorded attacking returns in four of his six fixtures for Emery. By contrast, he managed this feat in only three of his 13 outings beforehand.
The underlying statistics highlight Watkins’ goal threat for the new head coach.
His totals of 12 shots in the box and three big chances are both joint-top for Villa from Gameweek 15 onwards.
Leaky defence
Leicester, meanwhile, have been in poor form in defence since the season resumed.
They have failed to keep a clean sheet in their five fixtures, conceding at least twice on four of those occasions.
Watkins can profit from the Foxes’ frailties and deliver more returns for Villa on Saturday afternoon.
