While that achievement is worthy of celebration in itself, the Brazilian can take extra pride from the fact he is the third-fastest goalkeeper to reach a century of shutouts in the competition, doing so in 208 matches.
Appearances after 100 clean sheets
Goalkeeper | Club | Date | Appearances |
---|---|---|---|
Petr Cech | Chelsea | 13 Apr 2010 | 180 |
Pepe Reina | Liverpool | 6 Dec 2010 | 198 |
Ederson | Man City | 4 Mar 2023 | 208 |
Peter Schmeichel | Man Utd | 28 Feb 1998 | 212 |
David Seaman | Arsenal | 3 Apr 1999 | 225 |
Edwin van der Sar | Man Utd | 27 Jan 2009 | 246 |
Ederson has needed fewer appearances to reach 100 clean sheets than Premier League greats such as Peter Schmeichel, David Seaman and Edwin van der Sar.
Only Petr Cech and Pepe Reina have reached the milestone quicker than the Man City goalkeeper.
Ederson could go on to set a Premier League record this season, becoming the first goalkeeper to win the Castrol Golden Glove award in four successive seasons.
However, he has work to do to retain that title for the most clean sheets in a season.
Even after his latest shutout, he is three behind the15 clean sheets of leader Nick Pope, and all of Ederson's main rivals have at least one extra match to play this season.
Goalkeeper | Fixtures to play | Clean sheets |
---|---|---|
Nick Pope | 14 | 12 |
Aaron Ramsdale | 13 | 11 |
David De Gea | 14 | 10 |
Alisson | 14 | 9 |
Ederson | 12 | 9 |
David Raya | 15 | 8 |
