Joel Matip played 60 minutes as a strong Liverpool side beat Ipswich Town 3-0 in the Premier League Cup.

The centre-back returned from injury and eligibility issues as a late substitute in Saturday's Premier League defeat to Swansea City, joined Alberto Moreno, Joe Gomez and Kevin Stewart in the starting line-up.

Paulo Alves and Rhian Brewster struck in the first half and Ben Woodburn added a third late on.

The victory puts Liverpool six points clear at the top of Group G, meaning one more victory from their final two matches will secure qualification to the knockout stages.
