Play-off contenders Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers took a point apiece as they drew 0-0 in Division 2 at Whitley Park.

There were few chances for either side and experienced keeper Rob Elliott had a quiet night in the Newcastle goal.

Newcastle stay third, a point ahead of Wolves, who have two matches in hand, and seven clear of Aston Villa, who sit just outside the four play-off places.

Newcastle's next fixture is at West Bromwich Albion at Kidderminster on Monday, while Wolves go to Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.
